ALANSON AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY 

REGULAR BOARD MEETING -  April 13, 2017

The monthly meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski at 6:10 pm.  Trustees present were Anne Billiard and Sue Warner.   Also in attendance was new trustee/treasurer, Janet Batog.  Library director, Anna LaRue, was present.  Pat McFarland and BR Smith were absent. No guests were in attendance.

Minutes:      Minutes of the March 2, 2017, regular board meeting were read and with one correction, approved.

                        Minutes of the closed session meeting on March 2, were also approved.
 

“Janet Batog was welcomed to the board as our new trustee and treasurer, as Anne Billiard will be stepping down in June, after over 15 years of serving on the board.  Thank you, thank you, Anne, and welcome, Janet.”

Treasurer’s Report: 

·         Reconciled bank statements from January, February, and March were presented for initialing.

·         Bills paid for February and March were presented; Sue made the motion to approve the payment of the bills, supported by Janet.  Payment approved.

·         Total liabilities and equities as of March:$130,576.61

Sue moved to accept the treasurer’s report, supported by Janet, report accepted.

Director’s Report:

·         Cash and usage report was reviewed.

·         Book Club:  May selection is -“Paddle to the Amazon”, by Don Starkell.

·         Program report:

§  “Raving About Raptors”, is April 19, at 7:00 pm

§   Mrs. Tate’s second grade class and the Early Head Start Program kids came to the library for     visits.  All the second graders received free books.

·         Items up for renewal:  Ancestry, RIDES, and SCOLA. 

·         Sue’s evaluation is due.  Anna will schedule.

·         May 10, there will be an UPROC librarians meeting in St. Ignace.  Anna will attend.

Sue moved to accept the director’s report, supported by Anne.  Report accepted.

Old Business:

·         Board members will attend council meetings in May.  Alanson on 5/8/17, 7:00 pm, and Maple River on 5/15/17 at 7:30. 

New Business:

·         May 24^th will be the budget workshop meeting

·         June 7th will be the regular monthly meeting and annual budget meeting.

·          October 16-20, Anna will be gone.

·         Review of policies in May

·         Update alarm system emergency call up information.
