Regular Monthly Board Meeting

  June 7, 2017           

The monthly meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski, at 6:15 p.m.  Trustees present were Janet Batog, Anne Billiard, BR Smith, and Sue Warner, and Library Director, Anna LaRue.

Minutes:   Minutes of the May 3, and May 24, meetings were approved as read.

Treasurer’s Report:

•        Bills paid for May were presented;

•        Motion was made by BR to approve the bill payments for May; supported by Sue. Payment of May bills approved.

•        Profit and loss statements were reviewed.

•        Total liabilities and equity as of May 31, 2017; $153,965.71

•        Two townships have contracts outstanding

•        Sue, moved to accept the treasurer’s report, supported by BR, report accepted.

Library Director’s Report:

·         Cash and usage report reviewed

•        Programs:

                       Story hour – numbers are improving

                       Book Club book for the month of July: “This is Where I Leave You”, by Jonathan Tropper 

                        Navajo Codetalkers attendance – May 17: 75-80  

                          The Soo Locks in WWII – June 21, at 7:00

·         June 21, Char-Em will have two programs for their Day of Action. Grades 3-5 at 10:30 and K-2 at 1:00 at library.  They are looking for volunteers.

·         Anna presented information on new Wi-Fi Hot Spots, available to patrons to check out.  Lack of coverage in this area a problem, but will get more information.

·         MANGO may be purchased to replace SCOLA

·         Sue moved to accept the director’s report, supported by BR; report approved

Unfinished Business:

•        Policies were reviewed and updated

•        Visits to West Traverse and Pleasantview Township meetings will be scheduled

New Business:

·         Bank signatures need to be changed
