ALANSON AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY
REGULAR BOARD MEETING
August 7, 2019
The monthly meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski, at 6:00 pm. Those present were trustees Janet Batog, Sue Brants, BR Smith and Sue Warner, and library director, Anna LaRue. No guests were in attendance.
Minutes: Minutes of the July 10, 2019 regular board meeting were approved with a date correction.
Treasurer‘s Report:
· Bills for the month of July were presented for initialing
· BR, made the motion to approve the payment of the bills for July, supported by Sue W. Payment approved.
· Profit and loss statement reviewed. Checking: $23,036.59
· Janet presented the revised Budget for 2019-2020
· Joan made the motion to approve the revised budget for 2019-2020. Supported by Sue W. Budget approved.
· State aid received
· All township contracts have been received
Sue W. moved to accept the treasurer’s report, supported by Sue B., report accepted.
Director’s Report:
· Cash and usage report was reviewed.
· Book Club: September selections are: “An Elderly Lady Is Up to No Good”, by Helene Tursten; and
“The Last Days of Night”, by Graham Moore
· Programs:
o Approximately 80 attended the Titanic Program.
o August 28 is, “Michigan POW Camps in WWII”, with Gregory Sumner; a grant through UPROC will cover the cost of the speaker.
· Friendship and Readmond Townships approve of the Little Free Library boxes
· Anna has the name of a possible new volunteer/employee
· Numbers are up for story hour
Sue W. moved to accept the director’s report, supported by BR. Report accepted.
Old Business:
· Book Sale – Friday 8/9@ 4:00 set up, Sat. 8/10, 10-2, and Sun,8/11, 1-3.
New Business:
· None
