Our Mission Statement
The Alanson Area Public Library is dedicated to providing all members of the Alanson area
with literacy opportunities, services and support in a friendly, courteous manner.
The Library Board meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00pm in the Library.
The public is welcome and invited to attend.
As the Alanson Area Public Library has grown from a small room in the Alanson-Littlefield Community Building to a full-service library with a service population of nearly 12,000, we are pleased to invite you to make use our many services. We offer an ever-growing collection of library materials including current bestsellers, children and young adult collections, large print materials, audio books, a Michigan section and movies on DVD and VHS. We also house a portion of the Emmet County Genealogical Society's collection of research materials.
Our memberships in the Superiorland Library Cooperative, a consortium of over 40 libraries located throughout the northern Lower and Upper Peninsulas, and in MeL Cat, the statewide catalog, allow us to offer inter-library loan services to supplement our physical collection. We are also able to request materials from libraries nationwide, and access to MeL's database of hundreds of full-text journals further increases our patrons' research capabilities.
We have computers for public use (an Alanson Area Public Library card or temporary Guest Pass is required) and wi-fi for those with laptops or other devices. Patrons may download e-books and audibooks from the Great Lakes Digital Library by clicking on the Overdrive link on our menus; or access e-books and audiobooks as well as movies, TV shows and music through Hoopla.
