The Ontonagon Township Library is looking to add a call-in substitute to our staff. Substitutes get an EXTREMELY LIMITED number of hours per year when a regular staff member calls in sick, takes time off, or needs extra hands for a special project. It won't pay the bills, but it's a great way to help out the library and make a few extra bucks at the same time!

Applicants MUST BE ABLE TO WORK THE 4 SHIFTS LISTED BELOW. (After that you will be added to our list of substitutes and will be able to claim available shifts via e-mail on a first-come, first-served basis.)

WED SEP 23 - 11:00a to 3:00p
FRI SEP 25 - 11:00a to 5:00p
MON OCT 12 - 2:00p to 8:00p
WED OCT 13 - 11:00a to 3:00p

Applicants must meet the legal requirements for employment in the State of Michigan. Applicants must be responsible adults, as the job will occasionally involve independently opening and closing a public facility, and handling (small amounts of) cash. Applicants should have a basic understanding of what a public library is. Applicants should be comfortable using computers and technology, especially search engines and copying/printing. Applicants should be comfortable interacting with the public; experience in a service-oriented environment is desirable.

Substitutes are paid minimum wage and receive no additional benefits. You will also be paid for training (which will initially consist of 5 to 10 hours of job shadowing.)

To apply, please e-mail a resume (or a brief letter explaining your interest and qualifications) to Library Director Leo Siren at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
