Board Meeting November 2014

ALANSON AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY MONTHLY MEETING

                                                                                           November 5, 2014 

The November meeting was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski, at 6:00 p.m.  Trustees present, were Anne Billiard, Sue Warner, and BR Smith.  Pat McFarland was absent.  Library Director, Anna LaRue, and Sherry Webster also present.

Minutes:                      

• Minutes of the October 2, meeting, were read and approved

Treasurer’s Report:

• Anne presented the bills to be paid, the profit and loss statements, and the bank statements for initialing
• Sue made the motion to pay the monthly bills, supported by BR.  Motion carried.
• Total liabilities and equity as of October 31, 2014: $129,607.06
• BR made the motion to approve the 2014-2015 budget.  Supported by Sue.  Budget approved.
• Sue moved to accept the treasurer’s report, supported by BR.   Report accepted.

Library Director’s Report:

• The cash and usage report was discussed.  37 new cards this month, which is very impressive.
• The new computer has been installed. Monitors are beginning to go bad.  Anna will purchase two new ones; one as a replacement and one for a back-up.
• Quotes for a new and used projector were presented; it was decided to purchase a new one from UPROC later in the year.
• Anna reported on her training session through UPROC.  Very worthwhile.
• Book Club volunteer would like to begin sometime in January.  1 or 3 Tuesday works best for her; 4:00 pm starting time was suggested.
• Lighting issue and a blind spot from the office to the circulation desk were discussed.  Joan will contact White Pine for lighting and Anna will check on office reverse mirror.

Anne moved to accept the librarian’s report, supported by BR.   Report approved.

Unfinished Business:              

• Book bags arrived.  They will for $2.00 and FOAL will use them at the book sales as they see fit.
• All library policies were reviewed and updated.

 New Business:

• The Alanson Christmas Open House is December 12, from 5-8 p.m.
• FOAL meeting November 12, 6:30 p.m.
• Library Christmas Party will be at Anne’s on December 6, at 6:00 p.m.
