Board Minutes February 2015

ALANSON AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES

                                                                                           February 11, 2015 

The February meeting was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski, at 6:15 p.m.  Trustees present, were Anne Billiard, Pat McFarland, BR Smith and Sue Warner.  Library Director, Anna LaRue, and Sherry Webster were also present.

Minutes:                      

  • Minutes of the January 7, 2015 meeting, were read and with a date correction, approved.

Treasurer’s Report:

  • Anne presented the bills to be paid, the profit and loss statements, and the bank statements for initialing
  • Sue made the motion to pay the monthly bills, supported by BR. Motion carried.
  • Total liabilities and equity as of January 31, 2015: $102,908.30
  • BR moved to accept the treasurer’s report, supported by Sue, report accepted.

Library Director’s Report

  • The cash and usage report was presented.
  • The book club is set to begin on February 17, Tuesday at 4:00 pm.
  • Scheduled programs: April 15, at 6:30 pm - Titanic Survivors; July 11, at 11:00 am – Steven’s Puppets; July 29 at 7:00 pm – Bob Williams will talk about Titanic Deep Sea Explorations.
  • Closing dates for the remainder of the year were set on the library calendar
  • Employee requirements for State Aid were discussed. Library staff certification workshop is required.  Betsy and Sherry will attend in May.
  • Pat moved to accept the librarian’s report, supported by Anne.  Report accepted.

Unfinished Business:

  • Emergency Situation Policy was reviewed. Motion was made by Anne and supported by BR to add the revised Emergency Threat Response Guidelines and Lockdown/Lockout Policy to the rest of the library policies.
  • Sherry’s evaluation was successfully completed and she was given an increase of .50cents per hour, beginning February 9, 2015. 

New Business:

  • Library Week is April 12-18 – optional activities were discussed and FOAL will be asked for ideas.
  • Anna’s evaluation is due in March
  • Content insurance again discussed – Burley’s to be contacted.
  • Meetings schedule set: March – 4;  April – 16; May – 13; May -20, budget workshop;  June – 10 annual budget meeting/ reg. meeting 

Meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
