Regular Monthly Board Meeting

August 5, 2015

 

The monthly meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski, at 6:02 p.m.  Trustees present were Pat McFarland, B.R.Smith, and Sue Warner.  Library Director, Anna LaRue, employee Sherry Webster.  Anne Billiard was absent.

 

Minutes:   Minutes of the July 1, meeting were approved.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

•        July bank statements, bills to be paid, and profit and loss statements were presented.

•        Sue moved to approve the payment of the July bills, supported by BR. Payment approved

•        Total liabilities and equity as of July 31, $72,732.34

•        All contract payments from the townships have been received.

•        $913.89 bill for Superiorland Co-Op membership was received.

•        Questions in regards to the two State Aid checks received - Anne will explain at September meeting.

•        Sue, moved to accept the treasurer’s report, supported by Pat, reported accepted.

 

Library Director’s Report:

•        Monthly cash and usage report was presented.

•        Programs:

        “Titanic Exploration”; July 29 – about 30 attended; Bob Williams returned his check

 “Inland Waterway”; August 19, at 7:00 pm, by Matt Friday

 “Wolves of Michigan”; on September 30, at 7:00 pm, by Mike Cromley

“Bumps in the Night”, October 21, 7:00 pm

•        Book Club will resume in the fall

•        Anna will contact attorney in regards to the legality of our policies

•        Sue moved to approve the Director’s report; supported by B.R., report approved.

 

Unfinished Business:

•        Reviewed book sale times and how it will be staffed

•        Book bags will be sold ($2.00) or free with $10.00 purchase

 

New Business:

•        Logo contest discussed; letter to be written to local schools.   Student’s 14-18 eligible; ’Between the Covers’, $50.00 gift certificate prize for winner.

•        Trustees/Friends conference in Petoskey, October 2.   Encouraging everyone to participate.  Registration information on line.

•        Memorial donation for Dick Weaver
