Board Minutes January 2017

REGULAR BOARD MEETING

January  11, 2017

 

The monthly meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by Vice President, BR Smith at 6:00 pm.  Those present were Anne Billiard, Pat McFarland, Sue Warner, and Library Director, Anna LaRue.  President, Joan Niewiadomski was absent.   No guests were in attendance.

Minutes:     Minutes of the December 7, 2016 regular board meeting were approved as read.

 

Treasurer’s Report: 

·         Reconciled bank statements for November and December were presented for initialing.

·           Bills paid for December were presented; Sue moved to approve payment, supported by Pat.  Bill payment approved.

·          Payments from both the village and township have been received.

Sue moved to accept the treasurer’s report, supported by Pat, report accepted.

Director’s Report:

·         Cash and usage report was reviewed.

·         Program report:

o     Book Club met on 1/4/17; Book for February is “Follow the River”,  by James Alexander Thom

o    May 17, 7:00 pm; “Navajo Code Talkers”, with George Colburn

o    June 21, 7:00 pm; “Soo Locks and World War II”

o    Ron Fowler Story Program – Riverfest (August 12) not confirmed

o    Bill Jamerson, “Up in the U.P.”, August? not confirmed

o    “Michigan Residents in the Civil War”, with David Lyle – not confirmed

·         Closing dates set for the coming year

·         Ukulele lending program discussed

·         Official notice from the state, we are now a level 3 library (11,600) due to the decrease in the service area

·         Last month’s electric bill questioned; higher than usual

Sue moved to accept the director’s report, supported by Anne.  Report accepted.

Unfinished:

·         New trustee position was tabled until next meeting

·         Pat will not be taking over the treasurer’s position

·         Readmond Twp.meeting was discussed; all in agreement is was a good presentation

 

New Business:

·         Visits to remaining contracted township meetings to be announced

·         It was suggested that we attend the Good Hart Mini Fair to promote the library

·         Wine and Cheese Tasting – February 18, Crooked Vine Vineyard and Winery -Tickets coming soon.
