  Regular Monthly Board Meeting

July 5, 2017

 

The July meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski, at 6:00 p.m.  Trustees present: Janet Batog, Pat McFarland, BR Smith, Sue Warner,

 and Library Director, Anna LaRue also present.

 

Minutes:  Minutes of the June 7, annual budget meeting and the regular monthly meeting were read       and approved, with one correction to the regular meeting minutes.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

·         Bills paid for the month of June were presented for initialing.

·         Total liabilities and equities as of June 30, 2017:  $146,665.58

·         Motion to pay the June bills made by Sue supported by BR.   Payment approved.

·         Sue moved to accept the treasurer’s report, support from Pat, report accepted.

 

Director’s Report: 

·         Cash and usage report reviewed

·         Book Club report: August selection is, “Preston Tucker and His Battle to Build the Car of Tomorrow”, by Steve Lehto.

·         Programs:

        Soo Locks Program – approx. 55 in attendance

        Story Hour – attendance OK

        United Way Day of Action – no participation

        July 26 at 7:00 pm, Bill Jamerson’s program: ‘Daylight in the Swamp’.  This will be outside

                 weather permitting.

·         Mobil Hot Spots – company is working on expanding coverage area

·         Betsy’s evaluation completed and raise approved

·         Computer #1 is not working, new one ordered from UPROC to replace it.

·         Good Hart Mini Fair – July 16; FOAL will attend and pass out library materials; Ron Fowler is entertaining.

·         Anna will be gone August 2, Sue will be gone also – meeting rescheduled to Thursday, August 3.

Motion to accept report made by Sue and supported by BR.  Report accepted.

 

Unfinished Business:

·         Joan will set dates for township visits

·         Receipt of payment from two contracted townships questioned; Janet will check on it.

 

New Business:

·         Discussion concerning adjusting library hours

·         Book Sale, August 12, 13, 10-2 and 1-3; set up on Friday 5:00.

 

Meeting Adjourned 7:00 pm.
