ALANSON AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY

 Regular Monthly Board Meeting

October 11, 2018          

The monthly meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski, at 6:02 p.m.  Trustees present were Sue Brants, B.R.Smith, and Sue Warner, and Library Director, Anna LaRue.  Janet Batog was not present.

Minutes:   Minutes of the September 12, meeting were approved with one correction.

Treasurer’s Report:

No report due to treasurer’s absence.

Library Director’s Report:

•         Monthly cash and usage report was presented.

•         Book Club – November’s read: “One For The Money”, by Janet Evanovich

•         Programs:

There were approximately 40 in attendance for the Dahlgren Cannon program. 

Story hour has shown an increase in attendance

October 24, at 7:00 pm, “A Starry Night”, with John Riggs; telescope unveiling as well.

•         Township visits discussed; will discontinue for the winter season at the end of October

•         Anna discussed the Nor-Cor Librarians meeting she attended on Oct. 5.

•         UPROC annual conference was discussed

•         Lighting issues finally resolved and cost to replace one area of lights is forthcoming

•         Fire extinguishers need to be updated and a new company with local rep was selected

•          There will be a ‘mini’ Rural Libraries Conference at the Tree Tops Resort, April 29-30

Sue made the motion to approve the report, supported by BR, report approved.
