Regular Monthly Board Meeting

December 6, 2018

 

The monthly meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski, at 6:02 p.m.  Trustees present were Janet Batog, Sue Brants, B.R.Smith, and Sue Warner, and Library Director, Anna LaRue. 

 

Minutes:   Minutes of the November 7, meeting were approved with one correction.

 

Treasurer’s Report:

·         Reconciled bank statements and bills paid for November were presented for initialing.

·         Janet reported on the recent audit.  The future use of the Wortley donation was discussed.

·         Balances: Total liabilities and equities: $156,628.15, Checking: $63,526.14

·         Sue W. moved to approve the payment of bills. Support from Sue B.  Motion approved.

·         BR moved to approve treasurer’s report, supported by Sue W.  Report approved.

 

Library Director’s Report:

•         Monthly cash and usage report was presented.

•         Book Club – January’s read: “The Book Thief”, by Markus Zusak.  Six in attendance.

•         $2800. grant from GLE, will cover half of the cost of ten new computers purchased through UPROC.

•         Anna will check on possibly recycling our old computers to Alanson schools.

•         Petoskey News Review again refused to print library news. (Press release on GLE grant).

•         ‘Little Free Library’ boxes are completed.  Will wait until spring to install.

•         Anna will have 4 days to roll over to next year.

BR made the motion to approve the report, supported by Sue W., report approved.

 

Unfinished Business:

·         mBank is no longer charging monthly service fee

·         Christmas in Alanson change – Santa will not be at the library; at the new photography studio

·         LAMA position not yet filled

New Business:

·         Holiday pay for part time employees was discussed.

·         Sue W. made the motion:  those employees who are normally scheduled to work on Tuesday December 25, 2018 and Tuesday January 1, 2019, will be paid the regular hourly wage for those days.  This policy will be revisited in January of 2019. Motion supported by Janet.  Motion passed.
