ALANSON AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY

 REGULAR BOARD MEETING

                                                                                                                   February 6, 2019

The monthly meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski at 6:05 pm.  Those present were trustees Janet Batog, Sue Brants, BR Smith and Sue Warner, and library director, Anna LaRue.  No guests were in attendance.

Minutes:      Minutes of the January 2, 2019 regular board meeting were approved as read.

   

Treasurer’s Report

·         January’s reconciled bank statements were presented for initialing, as were the bills paid for the month.

·         Sue W. made the motion to approve the payment of the bills, supported by Sue B.  Payments approved.

·         Profit and loss statement reviewed. Janet has updated complete!

·         Checking: $37,826.46; Liabilities & Eq.:  $122,586.15.

BR moved to accept the treasurer’s report, supported by Sue B., report accepted.

Director’s Report:

·         Cash and usage report was reviewed.

·         Book Club:  March selection is –“Songs of Achilles”, by Madeline Miller

·         Light in foyer fixed but NOT fixed!  Anna will call White Pine.

·         Alanson schools were contacted concerning old computer donation.  Discussion followed as to what to charge if sold to public.

·         New computers to be installed next week

·         Anna explained a discrepancy found in the 2016-2017 State Aid  report, and the steps taken to rectify

·         Anna will be away from February 15-22.

Sue W. moved to accept the director’s report, supported by Janet.  Report accepted.

Old Business:

·         Alanson Area Public Library Personnel Handbook – reviewed and updates were made by Joan and Sue W.  Trustees were instructed to review updates and make additional changes if needed.  Approval of updated handbook will be done at April meeting.

·         Evaluation forms for library director handed out and due back by February 13.

·         FOAL’s “Wine Tasting” fundraiser is Feb. 9, at Crooked Vine Vineyard and Winery. From 6-8. Tickets $25.00.

New Business:

·         Township contracts are due this year.  Janet will send notice to township supervisors.  No changes – 3 years @ $3.00 per capita.  Contracts will be sent out in April.

·         Meeting date changes: April – 10th; May – 8th.
