Board Minutes May 2019

ALANSON AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY
REGULAR BOARD MEETING  -   May 8, 2019

 

The monthly meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski, at 6:00 pm.  Those present were trustees Janet Batog, Sue Brants, BR Smith, Sue Warner, and library director, Anna LaRue.    No guests were in attendance.

Minutes:      Minutes of the April 10, 2019 regular board meeting were approved with two corrections.

                     

Treasurer‘s Report:

·         Reconciled bank statements were presented for initialing, as were the bills paid for the month of April.

·         All contracts have been paid

·         Sue W. made the motion to approve the payment of the bills for April, supported by BR.  Payment approved.

·         Profit and loss statement reviewed.  

·         A clarification on the township contract language was made.

BR moved to accept the treasurer’s report, supported by Sue W., report accepted.

Director’s Report:

·         Cash and usage report was reviewed.

·         Book Club:  June selection is: “Snow Flake and the Secret Fan”, by Lisa Lee

·         Programs are all in place for the summer

·         3 old computers still left, no monitors

·         Friendship and Readmond Township meeting visits were made in March and April.

·         Lights in foyer- White Pine has completed the repair…$$$ expensive

·         Anna reported on the mini- Rural Library Conference she attended. Discussed the need for a policy to define/outline, the relationship between the library and the friends group.

·         Story hour has resumed – very small numbers attending; Seconded graders will again visit the library.

·         2020, Rural Library Conference will be April 13-15, at the Grand Traverse Resort

·         The sun glare on the computers will be solved with the installation of a roller shade

·         Anna will be visiting Friendship and Readmond townships, respectively, on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month.

·         Ancestry Renewal in June approved - $1465.

·         Sherry’s evaluation and wage increase discussed

Sue W. moved to accept the director’s report, supported by Janet.  Report accepted.

Unfinished Business:                                                                                                                                                                                                  

·         Report on the Readmond Township meeting; arrangements to be made to deliver Free Library book boxes

·         Anna’s salary increase approved and made retro active

·         Wage increases for all new evaluations were updated

·         Harbor Light will post annual budget meeting information

 

New Business:

·         Betsy’s evaluation due

·         Next meeting – Budget Workshop on May 23, at 6:00

·         Annual meeting June 5, at 6:00
