ALANSON AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY
REGULAR BOARD MEETING
June 5, 2019
The monthly meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski, at 6:25 pm. Those present were trustees Janet Batog, Sue Brants, BR Smith and Sue Warner, and library director, Anna LaRue. No guests were in attendance.
Minutes: Minutes of the May 5, regular board meeting were approved with one correction.
Minutes of the May 23, budget workshop meeting were approved as read.
Treasurer‘s Report:
· Bills paid for the month were presented
· BR made the motion to approve the payment of the bills for May, supported by Sue B. Payment approved.
· Janet explained her invoicing procedure
· Email from Sherry discussed
Sue B. moved to accept the treasurer’s report, supported by BR., report accepted.
Director’s Report:
· Cash and usage report was reviewed. Snowbirds have returned – all numbers are up.
· Book Club: July selections are – “The Indians of Hungry Hollow”, by Bill Dunlap
· “Notes From A Public Typewriter”, by Michael Gustafson
· Programs:
o Tom Bailey – June 26; 7:00 pm, “North Country Almanac”
o David Kaplan – July 31, 7;00 pm, “Midnight Heroes: Titanic’s Musicians”
· Second graders unable to visit library
· Story Hour numbers vary, but going well
· Lynn Walters Fraze has written book, “Life in the Black Hole”; was suggested she
attend the Riverfest book sale for book signing. She will donate a portion back to the library.
· Anna will visit Readmond and Friendship townships on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month.
· Annual report complete, no issues and state aid should remain the same
· Betsy’s evaluation complete
Janet moved to accept the director’s report, supported by BR. Report accepted.
Unfinished Business:
· July meeting will be on the 10th due to the 4th holiday.
New Business:
· New Literacy Program discussed
· Election of officers: BR moved to retain the same slate of officers as present. Supported by Sue B. Officers remain the same for the 2019-2020 year.
