ALANSON AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY
Regular Monthly Board Meeting
October 2, 2019
The monthly meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski, at 6:00 p.m. Trustees present were Janet Batog, Sue Brants, B.R.Smith, and Sue Warner, and Library Director, Anna LaRue.
Guests/ Comment: none
Minutes: Minutes of the September 4, meeting approved as read.
Treasurer’s Report:
· Reconciled bank statements for August, and bills paid for September were presented for initialing
· Checking balance as of 9/23/19, $62,917.19
· Motion made to approve the payment of bills made by, Sue W., supported by Sue B. Payment approved.
· Motion made by BR to approve treasurer’s report, supported by Sue B., report approved.
Library Director’s Report:
• Monthly cash and usage report was presented.
• Book Club – November’s read: “The Great Alone”, by Kristin Hannah
• Programs:
Story hour has started again – attendance small
Approximately 30 attended the David Lyle program on September 25.
• Staffing changes due to Sherry Webster’s resignation were discussed.
• Anna asked that the organization of book sale books be done by FOAL
• Saturday hours will be changed to 10-2 year around
• Two resumes have been accepted to fill the current vacancy. Deadline for submitting is 10/5/19.
• The Petoskey Schools Literacy Program will use the library for one on one tutoring
Janet made the motion to approve the report, supported by Sue, report approved.

New business:
· Wage increases discussed. An increase of .25 cents an hour for current employees and a starting wage base of $10.00 an hour for new hires were approved.
· Policy review and updating was discussed.
