ALANSON AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY
Regular Monthly Board Meeting
January 8, 2020
The monthly meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski, at 6:00 p.m. Those present were trustees Janet Batog, BR Smith, and Sue Warner, and Library Director, Anna LaRue. Sue Brants was absent.
Minutes: Minutes of the December 4, meeting were approved as read.
Treasurer’s Report:
· Reconciled bank statements for November were presented for initialing.
· Bills paid for the month of December were reviewed
· Motion to approve bill payments for December was made by BR and supported by Sue. Payments approved.
· Utility bills was a topic of discussion
· Janet discussed the issues she encounters using the current Quick Books Program; it was decided to allow her to change to a more user friendly program.
· Motion to approve report made by BR supported by Sue. Report approved.
Library Director’s Report:
• Monthly cash and usage report for December was reviewed.
• Book Club book for the month of February: “Virgil Wander”, by Leif Enger.
• Snow removal is being done
• Only one interested party showed up for the census recording position
• Rural Library Conference is April 13-15 at the Grand Traverse Resort
• Holiday closing dates for 2020, were reviewed for the calendar
• Need for (4) new patron chairs was discussed and Sue will check into replacing them.
• Serious discussion was had in regards to shelf space running out! Options?
· Sue moved to approve the director’s report, supported by BR, report approved.
Unfinished Business:
· The FOAL Wine Tasting fundraiser will be, February 8, from 6-8 pm. Tickets are $25.00
New Business:
· Evaluation forms for Anna will be available at the February meeting; review in March.
· Joan will be away from Feb.20-April 8.
· April meeting date moved to the 9th.
· Book sale scheduled for Saturday, March 14, from 10-2. Set up on Friday at 5:30.
· Next meeting February 5.
