ALANSON AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY
REGULAR BOARD MEETING
February 6, 2020
The monthly meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski, at 6:00 pm. Those present were trustees Janet Batog, Sue Brants, BR Smith, and Sue Warner, and library director, Anna LaRue. No guests were in attendance.
Minutes: Minutes of the January 8, regular board meeting were approved as read.
Treasurer‘s Report:
· Reconciled bank statements were presented for initialing, as were the bills paid for the month.
· DSL bill still outstanding
· Sue B. made the motion to approve the payment of the bills for January, supported by BR, payment approved.
· Profit and loss statement reviewed. Checking: $33,660.07
· The audit for June 2019 was reviewed. Fiscal concerns for the future were discussed.
Sue W. moved to accept the audit report, supported by Sue B., report accepted.
· New chairs ordered and old ones will be sold for $25.00 each
Sue W. moved to accept the report supported by Sue B., treasurer’s report accepted
Director’s Report:
· Cash and usage report was reviewed. Interesting fact: Little Traverse was second behind Littlefield in circulation use last month
· Book Club: March selections; ‘Waiting for the Morning Train’, by Bruce Catton or ‘Light Over London’, by Julia Kelly
· Programs:
o April 29 - Morrell Hunting Seminar, with Anthony Thomas
o June 24 – Michigan POW Camps During War II, with Gregory Sumner
o August 26 - The LeGriffon and the Huron Islands, with Kathie and Steve Libert of the Great Lakes Exploration Group
o October 21 – Haunted Petoskey, with Chris Struble
o May, July, and September – WWII series, a possibility because of the 75th anniversary of the war.
· Library staff training at Shanty Creek, May 13-15; Michelle will attend
· Anna, will again attend the Alanson parent/teacher conferences to sign more students up for library cards.
· Anna will attend the UPROC Conference
BR moved to accept the director’s report, supported by Sue W. Report accepted.
Unfinished Business:
· FOAL’s “Wine Tasting” fund raiser is Feb. 8, at Crooked Vine Vineyard and Winery from 6-8:00 pm
· Book Sale March 14, from 10-2; set up Friday at 5:30
· Evaluations for Anna’s review handed out – to be returned by 2/14/20
New Business:
