Board Minutes January 2019

January 2, 2019

The monthly meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski at
6:00 pm. Those present were trustees Janet Batog, Sue Brants, BR Smith and Sue Warner, and library director, Anna
LaRue. No guests were in attendance.

Minutes: Minutes of the December 6, 2018 regular board meeting were approved as read.

Treasurer's Report:

·         December's reconciled bank statements were presented for initialing, as were the bills paid for the month.

·         Sue W. made the motion to approve the payment of the bills, supported by Sue B. Payment approved,

·          Profit and loss statement reviewed. Checking: $57,658.91; Liabilities & Eq.: $150,568.60.

·          Audit reports were distributed.

Sue W. moved to accept the treasurers report, supported by BR, report accepted.

Director's Report:

·         Cash and usage report was reviewed. Year end stats: total books and materials circulated: 11,751; new cards issued: 170; and 2250 patrons used the computers.

·          Book Club: February selection is -"Legends of the Fall", by jim Harrison.

·          Light in foyer fixed but NOT fixed!

·          Anna expressed the need for more space in the DVD area.

·          The 2019 calendar was reviewed and closing dates noted, and the July regular meeting moved to the 11th due to the 4th holiday.

BR moved to accept the directors report, supported by Sue W. Report accepted.

Old Business:

·          Alanson Area Public Library Personnel Handbook - reviewed and updates made to section 302. After much discussion, Sue B. moved to table further discussion until all trustee had copies of the handbook. Sue W. supported the motion.

·         FOAL's "Wine Tasting" fund raiser is Feb. 9, at Crooked Vine Vineyard and Winery. From 6-8. Tickets $25.00.
