Regular Monthly Board Meeting
February 7, 2018
The monthly meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library Board was called to order by President, Joan Niewiadomski, at 6; 00 p.m. Trustees present were Janet Batog, Pat McFarland, BR Smith, Sue Warner, and library director, Anna LaRue.
Minutes: Minutes of the January 3, 2018 meeting were approved with two corrections.
Treasurer’s Report:
• Bank statements and bills for December and January were presented for initialing.
• Janet will now be doing payroll; Anna will help when needed.
• Motion was made by Sue to approve the bill payments; supported by BR. Motion approved.
• Profit and loss statements were presented.
• Total liabilities and equity as of January 31, 2018: $152,499.90
• BR, moved to accept the treasurer’s report, supported by Pat, report accepted.
Library Director’s Report:
• Monthly cash and usage report was presented.
• Book Club book for March: individuals to choose between: “Into No Man’s Land”, by Richard C. Bachus or, “A Star for Mrs. Blake”, by April Smith.
• Programs:
May 23 at 7:00 pm, Howard Rice (local author) will present, “ Voyage of Southern Cross”.
Ukulele Lending Program – off and rolling
· New contract waiver for non-profits from LAMA was discussed
· The idea of doing story hours or having ‘sub stations’ to service outlying townships was discussed.
· New scanner in operation
· Anna will be doing an article for the News Review in April
· Sue moved to accept the director’s report, supported by Janet; report approved.
Unfinished Business:
• Anna’s evaluation due at March meeting; Evaluation forms were handed out, due back by Feb. 14.
• FOAL Wine Tasting is February 10, from 6-8, at the Crooked Vine Winery
New Business:
· Book Sale is March 10-11.
· April and May meetings rescheduled: April 11 and May 9 are the new dates.
· West Traverse Township meeting April 10, at 7:00 pm
