"The world of books is the most remarkable creation of man. Nothing else that he builds ever lasts. Monuments fall, nations perish, civilizations grow old and die out, and after an era new races build others. But in the world of books are volumes that have seen this happen again and again and yet live on, still young, still as fresh as the day they were written, still telling men's hearts of the hearts of men centuries dead." ~ Clarence Day

Welcome to the Alanson Library
As the Alanson Area Public Library has grown from a small room in the Alanson-Littlefield Community Building to a full-service library with a service population of nearly 14,000, we are pleased to invite you to make use our many services.
We offer an ever-growing collection of library materials including current bestsellers, children and young adult collections, large print materials, audio books, a Michigan section and movies on DVD and VHS. We also house the Emmet County Genealogical Society's collection of research materials.
And, our memberships in the Superiorland Library Cooperative, a consortium of over 40 libraries located throughout the northern Lower and Upper Peninsulas, and in MeL Cat, the statewide catalog, allow us to offer inter-library loan services to supplement our physical collection, with the ability to request materials from libraries nationwide. Access to MeL's database of hundreds of full-text journals further increases our patrons' research capabilities.
We also have eight computers for public use (an Alanson Area Public Library card or temporary Guest Pass is required for use) and wi-fi for those with laptops. Patrons may access e-books through the Overdrive link on our Catalog page, and sign up to receive free online magazines from Zinio.
As our service area has grown, we have begun offering a variety of programs and classes to our patrons, so check out our Library Programs page to see what's currently scheduled! And our Friends of the Library group is going great-guns with two Used Book Sales a year and other projects. So if you're interested in supporting the Alanson Area Public Library, please consider joining this "friendly" group.
In short, the Alanson Area Public Library is lively and growing, and we look forward to seeing you in the library soon!
