Alanson Area Public Library
Regular Monthly Board Meeting
April 11, 2018

The April meeting of the Alanson Area Public Library was called to order by President Joan Niewiadomski at 6:17 p.m..  Present were Janet Batog, Pat McFarland, Anna LaRue and Joan Niewiadomski.  Absent were Sue Warner and B. R. Smith.

Minutes:  The minutes of the March 7, 2018 were read and approved by Pat, seconded by Janet.

Treasurer’s Report:

·          Contracts to be sent out to Townships

·         Waiting for payment from LAMA to reimburse for DSL for April, May and June, 2017

·         Sherry all set for raise.  She will be paid retroactive.

·         Motion to pay bills, Pat approved, Joan seconded

·         Pat moved to accept the Treasurer’s report, supported by Joan.

Director’s Report:

       Ukulele program is doing well.                 

·         Looking into telescopes as a rental program.

·         Anna attended the Alanson Littlefield school parent/teacher conference on March 13, 2018 and two people signed up for library cards.

·         Ron will be coming back to work on April 23; spring story hour session  May 22 –June 26^.

·         Talked to Natalie Cantrell, 2^nd  Grade teacher at Littlefield school. She will be bringing 2^nd graders to library for program.  Anna to order books to give out.

·         5 public computers need to be upgraded in the next year.  Add Windows 10 and Microsoft Office to the rest of the computers. Replace all other computers in 2019

·         Will try Hoopla. Cost $1,000 up front then they will subtract the usage.  Try for 6 months/no cancellation penalties.  Patrons can borrow for free, e-books, audio books, comic, movies, music and more. 

·         Anna to attend Rural Library Conference April 30 – May 2^nd in Traverse City.

·         Anna will make last trip to Columbus April 26^th-30 

·         Motion to accept Director’s report was made by  Joan, supported by Janet

Unfinished Business:

·         West Traverse Meeting went very well and it was very well received.

·         Library substation at Friendship Township will proceed every 2 weeks and maybe bump to once a week starting this summer.

·         Anna LaRue was awarded a 2.5% rate increase for 2018-2019

Next regular Board Meeting to be held May 9^th.

Budget meeting to be held May 24^th at 6:00.
